It’s that time of year again . . . when decisions must be made regarding Health Care Insurance Coverage for next year! The enrollment period for Medicare ends on December 7 so now is the time to review available plans to be sure you enroll in the one that is most beneficial for you. It is very important to do a yearly review as plans and benefits may change from year to year and the costs change as well.
In 1986, the state of North Carolina developed SHIIP (Seniors Health Insurance Information Program) in an effort to assist seniors and their caregivers in navigating the myriad of plans and options associated with Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D & long-term care insurance. Since that time, other states have developed their own SHIIP’s, using North Carolina’s program as a model. Volunteer counselors with extensive training are available to assist consumers with questions they may have regarding health insurance options. They can even help you with Medicare billing errors and fraud & abuse that may occur.
