Worldwide, nearly 44 million people have Alzheimer’s or a related form of dementia, with 1 in 9 Americans over 65 suffering from these diseases. The effects of dementia-related diseases will continue to take huge emotional and financial tolls on those suffering from these disabilities as well as those who care for them.
Transition Tamers is excited to be working to raise public awareness about Alzheimer’s through our affiliation with Huntersville CARES (Community Alzheimer’s Resource & Education). Huntersville CARES’ mission is to help transform the Huntersville Community into an Alzheimer’s-friendly community by working with local businesses and faith communities in support of those suffering from Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.
Huntersville CARES is joining with other organizations in the UK, as well as a few others in the U.S., to sponsor the upcoming WRAD (World Rocks Against Dementia) event happening on Saturday, March 19, beginning at 11: 30 a.m. at Magnolia Woods, 12125 Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC. WRAD seeks to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s/Dementia & to promote the creation of an educated, understanding, compassionate, aware & friendly world. The Huntersville WRAD will include local entertainment, food, door prizes & face painting. There is no charge for this event, but donations for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be accepted.
